Five Months

September was a full month for Kaysi and I! We have been here five months now, which seems crazy to us! There were many different events throughout the month that made it fly by so fast!

We said goodbye to three good friends in the month of September which was bitter sweet. I mentioned in our last blog that our friend Jevene left at the beginning of September. We have definitely missed getting to hang out with her. Our friends Foster and Kristen also left towards the end of September which was another bitter sweet moment. The clinic had a going away party for Foster and Kristen the Sunday before they left and poor Foster got caked for his birthday... and they got him pretty good... or bad.. well you look at the picture below! We are definitely excited for them and what God has in store for them in the coming months and years!
Thats not an ear plug.... thats cake!

We went to our first Indian wedding back towards the beginning of the month! The wedding was on a weekday night so we weren't able to stay for the entire service. Indian weddings are a huge get together and celebration that takes a good portion of the day and well into the night. There was tons of good food and great conversation with friends. The bride was beautiful and it was great fun to see the groom arrive in a carriage with all of his family dancing and having a great time!

We also welcomed in two new couples from the US that will be working at the clinic. Mike and Katherine are from Colorado and are both CFMT’s that will be working at the clinic. It has been fun getting to show them around different markets as well as just hanging out! Kaysi is enjoying getting to work with them and their great and upbeat attitudes. Steve and Meghan arrived two weeks ago from New York. Steve is also a CFMT. We have gotten to hang out with them and have really enjoyed their company. Its always so great to have people to journey with in this adventure!

Kaysi has finally gotten to do a little site seeing around Delhi over the last month which she has definitely enjoyed. The weather is cooling down a bit (only in the mid 90s now) so it makes it a little more bearable. At the beginning of the month we were able to go on a bicycle rickshaw tour of Old Delhi. This was a great experience for us! The morning was nice and cool with a little bit of rain so it made it very enjoyable. Here are a few pics of our tour as well as a link to our India album that has pictures from the last month as well as the rest of our stay here.

I believe it was in last months blog that I shared about a gentleman letting me borrow a set of golf clubs from him while I am here! This past month I was actually able to put the clubs to use a few different times! Golfing here is a bit different, but in a good way. Most people don’t actually ride in carts they walk the courses which does help to provide a little more exercise. Each person also has a caddy. This was a little bit different getting used to but it definitely proved to be very helpful. They will give suggestions to you if needed as well as keeping and eye on your golf ball and helping you locate it if you hit into the trees or rough (something that happens often with me)! I look forward to getting to play a few more rounds while here in India!

I was also able to begin helping out with the High School group at the church we have been attending in September! It has been great getting back into the swing of things with that. We meet twice a month on Sunday mornings. The first week we had a great group of kids and we were able to share our vision for what we hope to bring to the group. There was a good group of kids the second time as well! Looking forward to getting more involved with that as we move forward in our time here!

September also brought another exciting event!! Kaysi and I celebrated a year of marriage on September 28th! I can’t believe how fast the last year has flown by! Looking back there has been so much that has happened during that time! Every day I am reminded of God’s grace and love for me through Kaysi! Can’t believe how blessed I am! We celebrated our anniversary by going to Jaipur which is in the state of Rajasthan. Jaipur is called the Pink City after the pinkish paint that is painted on all the buildings that line the main thoroughfare through the old city. It was a great change of pace for Kaysi and I. We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel which was a good ways outside of the city with views of the hills and mountains out our window! It was also a little bit more quiet than it is here in Delhi! During our trip we were able to relax by the pool, get a massage, (and Kaysi got a pedicure) and the big adventure of the trip…. we got to ride an elephant!! Her name was Sonia and we had such a great time with her! The trip was a great time for Kaysi and I. I know that I am truly blessed to get to share life with such an amazing and beautiful woman!

The massive bathtub!

Overall, September was a great month for us! It was definitely hard to say goodbye to some of the friends we have made here, but it is also great to get to meet new friends as well! We look forward to what is next for us in our journey here in India and are looking forward to planning a few more trips around India in the near future! We are also amazed at how fast the time is flying by! We are definitely trying to make the most of every moment we are here!
